Jennifer Langille
Contributor

Jennifer Langille has loved gardens and the natural world since she was a child. Her own garden in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, has brought her immeasurable joy over the years. Jennifer recently completed the Master Gardener program at Dalhousie University, where she learned so much and recognized clearly that the learning never stops. Her passion for growing has evolved into cultivating cut flowers as a small business, which in turn blossomed into a floristry business, Bonnie Blooms. Blending her gardening roots with creative design, she creates florals for weddings, funerals, events and everyday bouquets of joy.

Elizabeth Spence
Contributor

Elizabeth’s interest in gardening began during her childhood in Wales. Her professional life was spent in academia when she had little time for practical gardening, but she did read voraciously on the subject and took many courses from the Royal Horticultural Society. When she moved to a heritage property with four acres in Tatamagouche, she was able to apply the knowledge she had gathered over the years. In her non-gardening life, she directs the Tatamagouche Chamber Ensemble music group and holds piano recitals in her home.

Hannah Martin

Hannah Martin
Contributor

Hannah Martin grew up on the small, northern coastal bay of Sikue’k (emptying harbour), also known as Brule, Nova Scotia. She is Mi’kmaq-Scottish, and a member of We’kopekwitk (Millbrook) First Nation.

Hannah tends to a small farm on her land in Sikue’k and is the owner of Sikue’k Consulting, through which she offers Indigenous advisory services across Canada.

Hannah creatively expresses her love for nature through writing, photography, tending to her farm, and as a traditional ash basketmaker. It is through these practices and way of life that she awakens the remembrance of her place on and as a part of the land, and is similarly inspired to support others in deepening their relationships to the earth.

She is also a successful artist, a wonderful and thriving mother of one, a reacher towards both people and dreams despite all of the turned backs and obstacles in her way. She is a thriving freelance writer and reporter, an author loved by enough readers to make it worthwhile and a discombobulated conundrum who loves to hear new music, tell new tales and meet new authors. After a brief time in another province, she is happy to report she has returned to her home to a rural area of Pictou County.
